Job summary

New Path Youth and Family Services is seeking a part-time, temporary Brief Counsellor for the Quick Access Clinic in Barrie. Clinician will assess needs of children, youth and families, develop treatment plans and provide single-session or short-term counselling.

Some travel to other sites may be required; hours are 28 per week. Compensation is $35.40–$38.64 per hour, with benefits and vacation entitlements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Social Work (B.S.W) required.
• Minimum two years' experience with children, youth and families in a children’s mental health or related service.
• Experience/training in Single Session Counselling.
• Experience with evidence-based/informed programs.

Responsibilities

• Assess the needs of children, youth and families, formulating treatment plans including goals and service strategies.
• Meet with clients and families to provide support and counselling using evidence-based/informed programs.
• Assist client(s) in making referrals to community resources as needed.
• Provide consultation to New Path staff, other agency personnel or the community.

Introduction

New Path Youth and Family Services is an accredited children's mental health agency providing a range of compassionate, innovative and accessible services for children, youth and their families throughout Simcoe County. New Path respectfully acknowledges we are situated on the traditional land of the Anishinaabeg People which includes the Odawa, Ojibwe, and Pottawatomi Nations collectively known as the Three Fires Confederacy.

Purpose of Position

The Quick Access Clinic is often the first point of contact for many New Path clients. Clinicians support clients in developing a plan to address a wide range of concerns. Services are delivered using the evidence-based practice of One-at-a-Time (single-session counselling). If a client requires support beyond the Quick Access Clinic, the clinician collaborates with the client to determine and facilitate the most appropriate referral.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

1. Assess the needs of children, youth and families, formulating treatment plans including goals and service strategies.
2. Meet with clients and/or their families to provide support & counselling, using evidence based/informed programs.
3. Assist client(s) in making referrals to community resources as needed.
4. Provide consultation to New Path Staff, other agency personnel or the community.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor of Social Work (B.S.W)
2. Minimum two years' experience working with children, youth and their families in a children's mental health or related service

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

1. Working hours are 11:00AM to 7:00PM Monday -Thursday, Some flexibility to attend training and all staff events on Fridays.
2. This position is performed in office/on-site to support the in-person meeting preferences of our clients and families.
3. Willingness to travel to other agency offices and community using personal vehicle. Must have valid driver's license with minimum G2.
4. Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
