Job summary

LaPrairie Works Inc. in Grande Prairie, Alberta, is seeking a Bridgeworker to join its civil infrastructure team.

Based at our Grande Prairie/Clairmont facility, you will perform repairs and construction on timber, concrete and steel bridges across Western Canada. The ideal candidate has strong safety knowledge, can work outdoors in various conditions, holds a valid Class 5 driver’s licence (Class 3 or 1 preferred), and ideally a Red Seal.

Qualifications

  • Must have thorough knowledge of worksite safety and procedures.
  • Red Seal trades certification is an asset (Carpentry, Ironworker or similar).
  • Physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence; Class 3 or 1 preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs on timber, concrete and steel bridge structures, including formwork, bearings, and abutment work.
  • Execute bridge construction and rehabilitation tasks on multi-span bridges.
  • Operate heavy equipment such as skid steer, loader, dozer, excavator and pile driver.
  • Site supervision and management experience is an asset.
  • Adhere to Health, Safety & Environmental practices and understand project drawings.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Bridgeworker- Civil Infrastructure and Construction

THE LOCATION

Based out of LAPRAIRIE'S Grande Prairie / Clairmont Alberta facility - Serving throughout beautiful and expansive Alberta and Western Canada.

JOB DUTIES
  • Perform a wide range of routine and complex repairs related to timber, concrete and steel bridge structures including concrete formwork and finishing, bearings, cap and other replacements of bridge components, backwall and abutment excavation and backfilling, and other work
  • Perform bridge construction and/or rehabilitation tasks involving multi span timber, concrete, cable and steel bridges including standard and major bridges
  • Operate heavy equipment including but not limited to skid steer, loader, dozer, excavator, and pile driver
  • Multiyear field experience related to civil bridge construction / maintenance
  • Site supervision and management experience is considered an asset
  • A strong focus on Health, Safety & Environmental practices
  • Ability to understand technical specifications and related project drawings
  • Solid communications skills (oral / written)
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of worksite safety, and safe operating procedures relevant to bridge and or civil construction
  • Certified Red Seal trades in Carpentry, Ironworker or alike would be considered an asset
  • Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 driver's licence. Class 3 or a Class 1 Driver's licence is preferred
