Job summary

SYSTRA Canada is seeking a senior Bridge Engineer to lead design and analysis of complex bridge structures in Ontario. You will perform detailed calculations, model using Midas Civil, and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure BIM delivery and project success.

The role is hybrid in Ontario, requires 10+ years of experience and a PEng in Ontario. Salary ranges CAD 95,000–110,000 per year, with a commitment to diversity and an equal opportunity workplace.

Qualifications

• Bridge Engineer with 10+ years of experience.
• Licensed PEng in Ontario.
• Extensive experience in bridge design and analysis using Midas Civil.
• BIM delivery experience preferred.
• Experience on Ontario infrastructure projects and multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Undertake detailed structural design and analysis calculations for complex bridge structures.
• Perform and review bridge design and analytical modelling using structural analysis software including Midas Civil.
• Check calculations and models prepared by others to ensure accuracy.
• Provide engineering judgement on complex bridge design issues.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for integrated bridge designs.
• Support delivery through all design stages with standards compliance.
• Contribute to design reviews and quality management processes.
• Mentor and support junior engineers and EITs.

Context

This role contributes across design development and documentation phases, including preparation of general arrangement drawings, reinforcement detailing, and BIM coordination for bridge projects. Responsibilities include translating engineering concepts into accurate technical drawings while maintaining compliance with drafting standards, quality control procedures, and client specifications within Ontario’s transportation infrastructure environment.

Missions/Main Duties

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake detailedstructural design and analysis calculationsfor complex bridge structures in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.

• Perform and reviewbridge design and analytical modellingusing relevant structural analysis and design software, includingMidas Civil.

• Check and verify calculations, models, and design outputs prepared by other Engineers andEngineers-in-Training (EITs)to ensure technical accuracy and quality.

• Provide technical input and engineering judgement on complex bridge design issues, supporting the development of safe, efficient, and practical solutions.

• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure bridge designs are integrated with broader project requirements and interfaces.

• Support delivery of bridge projects through all relevant design stages, maintaining compliance with client, regulatory, and project-specific standards.

• Contribute to technical reviews, design assurance, and quality management processes across bridge engineering activities.

• Mentor and support junior engineers and EITs through calculation checking, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing.

Profile/Skills

Required Qualifications

• Bridge Engineer with minimum 10+ years-experience
• PEng in Ontario
• Highly experienced with undertaking bridge design and analysis calculations including experience of bridge structural analytical and design software such as Midas Civil
• Preference for Alliance experience
• Preference for local experience with Ontario infrastructure bridge projects
• Preference for past experience of projects with BIM delivery
• Preference of experience of working on multi-disciplinary projects, as well as large complex projects

• Strong Revit modelling capability

• Problem-solving

The reference salary range for this role would be $95,000 - $110,000 CAD / Annually
