Established in 1879, BGCC proudly holds the title of the 4th Oldest Golf Club in North America, offering a championship 18‑hole course, practice facilities, and a vibrant year‑round social atmosphere.

The Club will host the 2026 Canadian Men’s Mid‑Amateur Championship and, during its 150th Anniversary in 2029, the prestigious Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship, cementing Brantford’s reputation as one of the nation’s premier golf venues.

Position Summary

The Brantford Golf & Country Club is seeking an experienced, passionate, and dedicated Golf Course Superintendent to lead the maintenance, conditioning, and continual enhancement of its golf course and grounds. Reporting to the General Manager, the Superintendent will be a visible and engaged leader, serving as the face of the golf course operation. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong agronomic expertise, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to find operational efficiencies while maintaining championship‑level playing conditions. This position requires a member‑focused communicator who values feedback, thrives in a collaborative environment, and takes ownership of the golf experience from tee to green.

Key Responsibilities & Duties
Leadership & Member Engagement
  • Act as the primary ambassador for the golf course, maintaining a professional and approachable presence with members and committees.
  • Champion the member experience by listening to feedback, communicating proactively, and enhancing course presentation and consistency.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager and Grounds Committee on strategic goal planning and communication.
  • Work closely with Golf Operations F&B and Events teams to ensure seamless coordination of play tournaments and club events.
Course Maintenance & Agronomy
  • Plan and execute all turf maintenance programs for greens, tees, fairways, bunkers, and rough.
  • Develop agronomic programs for fertility, irrigation, pest management, and cultural practices tailored to Southern Ontario’s conditions.
  • Maintain and optimize irrigation and drainage systems for efficiency and reliability.
  • Ensure consistent conditioning standards suitable for provincial and national championship play.
Operational Efficiency & Resource Management
  • Continuously review and identify efficiencies in labour deployment, maintenance practices, equipment utilization and purchasing.
  • Implement data‑driven approaches and technology where practical to improve productivity and cost control.
  • Support a culture of sustainability and environmental responsibility throughout operations.
Team Development
  • Recruit, train and lead a team of dedicated full‑time and seasonal staff.
  • Foster a positive, professional, and accountable workplace.
  • Provide mentorship, performance management, and opportunities for staff growth.
Financial & Strategic Planning
  • Prepare and manage the annual operating and capital budgets for the Grounds Department.
  • Develop long‑term agronomic and equipment replacement plans in collaboration with the General Manager.
  • Track performance, monitor variances, and provide regular reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental health and safety standards, including IPM best practices.
Capital Projects & Infrastructure
  • Oversee golf course renovation, construction, and improvement projects.
  • Manage the maintenance, acquisition, and replacement of turf equipment and vehicles.
  • Collaborate with consultants, contractors, and other professionals to execute capital initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Degree, diploma, or certificate in Turfgrass Management, Horticulture, or a related discipline.
  • Class A Superintendent designation with the CGSA (or eligibility to obtain).
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in golf course management, ideally within a private club or championship‑calibre facility.
  • Proven record of staff leadership, budget management, and communication with members, boards, or committees.
  • Strong knowledge of turfgrass science, irrigation systems, and environmental best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance high‑quality standards with operational efficiency.

Compensation

Brantford Golf & Country Club will offer an attractive year‑round compensation package commensurate with experience. The salary range is $130,000 to $160,000, with a competitive base salary, extended healthcare and RRSP benefits, and a performance bonus. The club is open to candidates across the country and offers a relocation budget if required.
