Job summary

A leading mining company in Northeastern Ontario is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to operate boom trucks and cranes safely. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, a mobile crane operator license, and at least 3 years of experience in the mining sector. This position provides accommodations, meals, and transport to the site on a 14/14 schedule.

Job description

Reporting to the Mine Maintenance Supervisor, you will be part of the Maintenance Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

Responsibilities
  • Safe and effective operation of boom trucks and mobile cranes, taking into account weather and road conditions;
  • Operate other various heavy equipment as required;
  • Perform daily pre-start and post-operational inspections and complete appropriate documentation in compliance with Company guidelines;
  • Monitor equipment operation including gauges, dials and other indicators on the boom truck and mobile crane, and report any issues to the Supervisor;
  • Communicate clearly and effectively through the use of radio, hand signals and/or other systems;
  • Follow and comply with all health, safety and environmental policies and procedures, including those outlined in the Occupational Health & Safety Act;
  • Follow defined practices to assure quality, safety and housekeeping standards.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalency (GED).
  • Certified Hoisting Engineer Mobile Crane Operator (License 339A).
  • 3 years’ of work experience, preferably in the mining industry.
  • Mechanically inclined and able to identify potential equipment issues.
Your Work Schedule
  • Schedule: 14/14 schedule at our Detour Lake Mine;
  • Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides transportation to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
