Job summary

A local garden centre in Victoria, BC is seeking a Bookkeeper / Accounting Assistant to manage financial operations. Responsibilities include recording sales and reconciling accounts. The ideal candidate has over 2 years of bookkeeping experience and proficiency in accounting software, preferably Sage. This is an on-site position reporting to the Financial Controller.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of bookkeeping experience required.
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software, preferably Sage.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Record daily sales, vendor invoices, and financial transactions.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable.

Wildwood Outdoor Living is a locally owned garden centre dedicated to helping our community create beautiful, sustainable outdoor spaces. We offer a wide range of plants, landscaping supplies, outdoor furniture, and décor. We’re looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Accounting Assistant to join our team and support our financial operations.

Responsibilities
  • Record daily sales, vendor invoices, and financial transactions
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and POS reports
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable
  • Maintain organized financial records and documentation
  • Communicate with customers, vendors and internal teams regarding billing and payments
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of bookkeeping experience
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Sage preferred)
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Preferred Skills
  • Familiarity with POS systems and inventory management
  • Experience in seasonal retail operations
Work Environment
  • On-site at our garden centre in Saanich, BC
  • Reports to: Financial Controller
