Job summary

Bank of Montreal is launching an actuarial graduate program starting June 2027. Participants will rotate across departments every 24 months within BMO Insurance while pursuing actuarial credentials and gaining broad experience in pricing, corporate actuarial, institutional pricing, and investments & ALM risk management.

Applicants must be enrolled in an actuarial science or mathematics degree, graduate Spring 2027, and have started or completed at least one SOA exam.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an actuarial science or mathematics degree program, graduating Spring 2026.
  • Successful completion of at least 1 SOA exam or equivalent and actively pursuing an FSA/FCIA designation.
  • Combination of excellent analytical and mathematical skills with strong work ethic.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Knowledge of the life insurance industry and products is an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work as part of a team.
  • Exhibits outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated capacity to influence peers and leaders.

Program Overview

While working towards your actuarial credential (e.g. completing your Fellowship of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries) you will rotate to a different department every 24 months within BMO Insurance. This program will give Actuarial graduates an opportunity to broaden their actuarial and business experience, working within various areas of the organization. We offer a friendly and supportive work environment that rewards initiative and commitment. Working alongside other new and recent graduates, as well as actuaries, there's a tremendous support system in place to help guide you through exams and work challenges.

This role starts June 2027. We are actively seeking students enrolled in a related undergraduate degree program, graduating Spring 2027.

Rotations could include: Advisory (Life) Pricing, Corporate Actuarial, Institutional Pricing, Investments & ALM Risk Management.

Salary & Compensation

Salary: $50,100.00 - $93,000.00

Pay Type: Salaried

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type. Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position. BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.

Work Arrangements
