Oxford Learning Ajax is seeking a friendly, reliable part-time French teacher to help students in Ajax learn French through in-person sessions after school.

You will teach up to three students at a time, conduct lessons in French, follow the Oxford Learning methods, and provide brief post-lesson notes. Evening shifts and occasional Saturday mornings are available.

Are you a friendly, reliable, and enthusiastic French speaker? Join the team at Oxford Learning Ajax as a part-time French teacher. Ignite your passion for helping students succeed – en français!

We teach students HOW to learn French. We help students improve their academic and study skills in a small group setting. We have a lot of fun! Our class sizes are small with a maximum of three students per teacher. We provide all of the curriculum and lessons. Teachers do not need to lesson plan. Our teachers explain and guide students through the provided material and help students talk about their understanding.

Position Requirements

All teachers at Oxford Learning work during evening hours (3:00/4:00pm - 8:00pm). Teachers typically work two evenings and some teachers also work on Saturdays. Your students will love working with you, and being reliable is a must. Candidates must possess a strong background in spoken and written French and English and be comfortable teaching up to a Grade 9 level, but up to Grade 12 is preferred. The candidate is required to instruct class sessions in French.

This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position. Relocation packages are not available. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
• Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
• Teaching certification an asset
• Good knowledge of the current Grades 9-12 French core curriculum

Experience

• Some experience teaching/tutoring French at a Grade 9 to 12 (or equivalent) level
• Strong English written and oral communication skills
• Strong French skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
• Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time

You will work directly with students as an Interactive Coach with the following responsibilities:

• Teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels
• Teaching in-person
• Following the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
• Filling in post-lesson notes
• Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times

Schedule:

• Mondays and Wednesdays 3:00pm/4:00pm - 8:00 pm OR Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00pm/4:00pm - 8:00 pm
• Potential for Saturday mornings too, 9:00am - 1:00 pm
