JOB SUMMARY
The Brokerage Billing & Premium Financing Analyst is responsible for the accurate billing, collection, and reconciliation of insurance premiums while administering and executing premium financing arrangements with third-party finance companies. This role ensures compliance with insurer, regulatory, and trust accounting requirements while providing analytics and insights to support cash flow, operational efficiency, and brokerage profitability.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Billing and Premium Invoicing
- Prepare and issue accurate premium invoices in accordance with binders, policies, endorsements, and insurer agreements.
- Ensure billing aligns with premium financing terms, payment schedules, and insurer remittance requirements.
- Process premium adjustments, resulting from endorsements, cancellations, audits, and policy changes.
- Coordinate with necessary team members (Account Managers, Account Executives, and Accounting) to validate billable premiums and fees.
Accounts Receivable & Collections
- Manage the full Premium receivable lifecycle including cash application, collections, and dispute resolution.
- Maintain accurate AR aging for both financed and non-financed premiums.
- Coordinate collections activity in alignment with company policies and premium financing terms.
- Support the Senior Accountant in reconciling of client trust account, insurer payables, and premium finance remittances
- Support month-end close, reconciliations, and audit requirements.
Premium financing & Third Party Contracts
- Prepare, execute, and administer premium finance agreements with approved third-party financing companies.
- Act as the primary liaison between the clients, brokers, insurers, and premium finance providers.
- Ensure financing agreements are accurately reflected in brokerage management system..
- Track funded amount, down payments, installment schedules, fees, and settlements.
- Monitor financed receivables and ensure timely remittance to insurers.
- Resolve discrepancies related to funding, repayments, cancellations, or policy changes.
Analytics & Reporting
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports related to premium billing, AR aging, , and financed receivables.
- Track KPIs such as DSO, financed vs. non-financed premium balances, cancellations, and recovery trends.
- Analyze payment behaviour, financing utilization, and impact by client, line of business, or insurer.
- Support in identifying revenue leakage, process inefficiencies, and premium collection risks.
- Provide insights to leadership and leadership team.
Process Improvement & Controls
- Identify opportunities to streamline billing, AR, and premium financing workflows.
- Strengthen internal controls related to premium handling, financing execution, and remittance.
- Support system enhancements and automation initiatives for billing and financing data within BMS.
- Maintain documented procedures aligned with regulatory and insurer requirements.
- Support the compliance with provincial insurance regulations and finance company agreements.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- 1-3 years’ experience with financial analysis, billing, accounts receivable and revenue operations.
- Professional, strong, assertive communication skills to effectively engage with clients, ensuring timely resolution of outstanding accounts while maintaining positive relationships.
- Ability to work well under pressure with minimum supervision.
