Title: Bilingual Senior Manager, GCM Banking- IB Business Banking and Capital Markets (English/Spanish)

Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the International Banking – Business Banking and Capital Markets / GCM Banking in Toronto, Canada, ensuring specific individual goals, plans and initiatives are executed and delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities are conducted in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

What You’ll Do:
  • Champion a customer‑focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Prepare credit requests for new and existing counterparties, including financial analysis and suitable transaction structuring and risk mitigation, and submit all credit‑related requests to Global Risk Management and other internal approval groups. Handle complex requests and high‑revenue counterparties, and provide seamless coverage of the portfolio in the absence of any team member, including the Director.
  • Provide ongoing credit and execution support for marketers, product teams and traders, including new product initiatives and limit requests within the requested timeline.
  • Maintain strong interest in international issues, including awareness of global trade flows, economic, technological, social, legal, regulatory and political conditions that could impact the financial viability of clients.
  • Oversee negotiation and review of credit documentation (ISDA/CSA, GRMA, GMSLA) for new transactions and onboarding for Scotiabank entities.
  • Apply in‑depth knowledge of the Bank’s lending policies, practices and procedures, and demonstrate proven credit judgement.
  • Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, and listen closely to ask relevant questions, interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Independently manage a portfolio of counterparties across various countries, addressing banking dynamics, jurisdictions, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Exercise interpersonal and time‑management skills, and possess a strong aptitude for managing operational risks that impact the credit function.
  • Actively use Scotiabank and IB‑GBM Management Information Systems, trading and booking systems to provide accurate and relevant information as required.
  • Understand local regulatory frameworks and ensure the Bank’s risk appetite and culture are considered in daily activities and decisions.
  • Collaborate with Global Risk Management, Counterparty Credit Risk, Market Risk Management, Legal, Tax, Finance, Compliance, Global Wholesale Services, Global Capital Markets Documentation, and other Execution teams.
  • Mentor and train junior team members, sharing best practices and market insight.
  • Take initiative to challenge the status‑quo for positive change within IB Business Banking and Capital Markets / GCM Banking.
  • Pursue effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct and Global Sales Principles, ensuring adequate day‑to‑day business controls and compliance with AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
What You’ll Bring:
  • Support IB‑GBM / GCM Trading Desks globally.
  • Work with multiple trading and client management systems (ALGO, C360, CorrRisk, Salesforce).
  • Negotiate and review documentation for related transactions for BNS, SCI, SBE, SBI, BNSAL, and SCUSA.
  • Liaise with GRM, CCR, MRM, Legal, Tax, Finance, Compliance, GWS, GCM Documentation, and other Execution teams.
  • Have prior banking experience in a credit or execution‑related role; exposure to Latin America, Europe and Asia is an asset.
  • Spanish language required.
  • University education or post‑graduate education; an MBA or CFA is considered an asset.
Work Arrangement:

Work in a standard office‑based environment; non‑standard hours are a common occurrence. No travel required.
