Job description
Manager, Estate Settlements (Montreal) – 6-Month Contract to Permanent

Hourly Rate: $40–$45/hr

Schedule: 37.5 hours/week | Hybrid (3 days onsite)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Manager of Estate Settlements to lead a high-performing administration and contact-handling team. This role oversees daily operations, ensures service excellence, and drives continuous improvement within the Estate Settlements function. You will coach, mentor, and guide a team of approximately 10 employees, including Coordinators, Associates, and sr Specialists, while delivering client-focused outcomes and elevating the overall experience for both clients and employees.

This position is based in Montreal, and bilingualism (English/French) is required.

What You’ll Do
Leadership & Team Development
  • Provide ongoing coaching, performance management, and career development for team members.
  • Champion collaboration, innovation, and cross-training to strengthen team skills and productivity.
  • Guide employees through change, support business readiness initiatives, and drive engagement.
Operational Excellence
  • Oversee daily operations to ensure quality, timeliness, and service-level achievement.
  • Collaborate with Workforce Management to optimize staffing and resource allocation.
  • Utilize data insights to monitor trends, identify process improvements, and implement solutions.
  • Apply deep knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulatory expectations to resolve escalations.
Business Support & Continuous Improvement
  • Support recruiting, hiring, and onboarding efforts to meet evolving business needs.
  • Contribute expertise to departmental and corporate initiatives, including automation and process enhancements.
  • Maintain strong understanding of Estate Settlements, industry practices, and investment/tax implications.
What You Bring
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in a client-centric or back-office operations environment.
  • Strong understanding of investment products; exposure to Estates or related tax considerations is an asset.
  • Postsecondary education in business or a related discipline; securities courses (IFIC, CSC) are an asset or must be completed within 1 year.
  • Excellent communication skills and proven ability to handle escalated client situations with professionalism.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through transformation and embrace change.
  • Fluency in both French and English (verbal & written).
  • Ability to work independently and drive initiative.
