Job summary

CMHC is seeking a Data Scientist II to join its Analytics & Strategic Insights team for a 13‑month contract. You will leverage data, analytics, and automation to solve business challenges, identify trends, and support better decision-making across CMHC.

You’ll collaborate with business partners and technology teams to deliver insights, build predictive models, and develop automated data processes. A degree in a quantitative field and strong communication skills are required.

Qualifications

• A degree in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, or a related discipline. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
• Experience in data science, analytics, business intelligence, or a related field.
• A proficiency with Python, SQL, or similar analytical tools.
• Experience working with large and complex datasets and developing analytical solutions.
• Strong problem‑solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
• Experience presenting insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Experience with Power BI or other data visualization tools.

About the role

Join the Analytics & Strategic Insights team, in the Data Scientist II position. In this role, you will use data, analytics, and automation to help solve business challenges, identify trends and risks, and support better decision‑making across the organization.

You will work with a variety of data sources and collaborate with business partners, subject matter experts, and technology teams to deliver insights and innovative solutions that support CMHC's strategic objectives.

This is a temporary position with a duration of 13 months.

What you'll do:

• Analyze complex data and provide actionable insights and recommendations.
• Build and maintain predictive models, forecasts, and analytical solutions.

What you should have:

• Knowledge of mortgage loan insurance (MLI), mortgage finance, regulatory reporting, lending, risk management, or financial services.
• An experience with designing automated monitoring frameworks, predictive risk indicators, or machine learning solutions.
• A data science or artificial intelligence certifications. Familiarity with machine learning, predictive analytics, or automation.
• A relevant certifications in data science, analytics, or artificial intelligence.
