Job summary

A leading mining company is looking for a Conveyor Systems Maintenance Technician to ensure the efficiency and safety of conveyor operations. Candidates should possess a Level 2 or 3 Belt Splicing qualification and experience in continuous processing plants. Responsibilities include maintenance, inspections, and leading the maintenance team. This position is located in Southwestern Ontario, Canada.

Qualifications

• Level 2 or 3 Belt Splicing trade qualification or similar.
• Significant experience in a fixed plant continuous processing plant.
• Strong understanding of production and maintenance strategies.

Responsibilities

• Repairing and maintaining conveyor systems and equipment.
• Conducting preventative maintenance inspections.

Work Location: Eliwana - Fortescue’s Eliwana mine is located on the traditional lands of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama people.

Roster: 8 days on 6 days off

Reporting to the Ore Processing Facility (OPF) Supervisor, this role will be responsible for repairing, maintaining and improving conveyor systems and equipment to meet operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out steel cord & fabric conveyor belt splicing and repairs
• Lag pulleys on site with cold vulcanized lagging in compliance with FMG work standards
• Conveyor system maintenance including but not limited to roller changes, roller frame change out & repairs, scraper changes, skirt replacement & repairs, installation of tracking devices
• Maintain safety & belt hygiene standards across the fixed plant process
• Operate mechanical conveyor belt handling equipment such as winders, winches and belt stands
• Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and log all information into the asset management app (PDS)
• Take on leading hand responsibilities to ensure the maintenance team are performing efficiently

Qualifications and Experience

• Level 2 or 3 Belt Splicing trade qualification or similar.
• Significant experience in a fixed plant continuous processing plant
• Strong understanding of both production and maintenance strategies for large-scale, continuous processing plants
• Proven commitment to safety and zero harm
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team
• Proficiency in MS Office and SAP
• Passion for leading and motivating a team to achieve high performance
