Fortescue’s Eliwana mine is located on the traditional lands of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama people.

Roster:4D:3R – FIFO ex Perth

Eliwana is Fortescue’s US$1.275 billion development, including 143km of rail and a 30mtpa dry OPF. The mine will build on Fortescue’s development and construction capability, using the latest technology, autonomous trucks and design efficiency.

Reporting to the Engineering, Quality & Reliability Superintendent, this role will be responsible for repairing, maintaining and improving conveyor systems and equipment to meet operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Provide expert guidance on Steel Cord & Fabric Conveyor belt splicing and repairs

Management of Maintenance Strategies of Belt handling equipment such as winders, winches, vulcanisers and belt stands

Management of Maintenance Strategies of conveyor maintenance systems such as drives, belts, scrapers, frames, rollers and pulleys

Review & Development of Existing/New Work Instructions with relation to conveyor systems

Technical guidance in RCA process for belt/ conveyor system failures

Working in conjunction with Engineering, Mechanical and Planning on scheduled works

Monitoring the conveyor team’s weekly planned works, projects, breakdowns and shut works

Review of work required for upcoming weekly plans including estimation of resource requirements, consulting with suppliers and OEMs for ordering of all the necessary parts and materials etc.

Coordinating that all conveyor maintenance activities are undertaken in a safe and coordinated manner, in compliance with site standards and procedures and the relevant Australian Standards and WA Mines Safety and InspectionRegulations.

Monitor Conveyor Systems Asset Health in relation to plant operation

Maintain Safety & Belt hygiene standards across the fixed plant process

Qualifications and Experience
  • Level 3 Belt Splicing trade qualification
  • At least 15 years experienced in conveyor systems within the mining industry including failure analysis and plant optimisation
  • Strong understanding of both production and maintenance strategies for large-scale, continuous processing plants
  • Proven commitment to safety and zero harm
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team
  • Directed and implemented both large projects and small maintenance improvements
  • Proficiency in MS Office and SAP
