Before School Support – LTO – 7.5 hrs per week Alpine

Responsibilities
- Follow the guidance of the Designated Early Childhood Educator (DECE) operating the extended‑day classroom.
- Support play‑based programming for students in junior kindergarten to grade 6 who are registered in WRDSB’s Before and After School program.
- Support positive and responsive interactions among children, parents, child‑care providers and staff.
- Encourage children to interact and communicate positively and support their ability to self‑regulate.
- Support children’s exploration, play and inquiry, both child‑initiated and adult‑supported.
- Provide inclusive learning environments and experiences that support every child’s learning and development, including those with individualized plans.
- Support indoor and outdoor play, active play, rest and quiet time, respecting the individual needs of the children.
- Foster engagement and ongoing communication with parents about the program and their children.
- Follow licensing requirements under the Child Care and Early Years Act.
- Promote an anti‑oppressive, anti‑racist, and inclusive culture where all children feel seen, heard, respected, and have the support and resources they need to flourish.
- Support the health, safety, nutrition and well‑being of the children.
- Supervise and support children to ensure they are healthy and safe by following Public Health, First Aid and Emergency procedures.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a high school diploma, GED or equivalent level of educational attainment.
- Prior experience supervising and supporting children in a positive and safe manner.
- Valid Standard First Aid with CPR Level C/AED (or willingness to obtain).
- Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (current within 5 years if currently employed with WRDSB; within 6 months for new employees).
- Completion of Licensed child‑care staff record requirements, including Waterloo Public Health health assessment and all required documentation.
Conditions of Employment
- Standard First Aid with CPR Level C/AED is mandatory.
- Must complete the Licensed child‑care staff record requirements.
- Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Background Check including the Vulnerable Sector check before commencement of employment.
