Position Summary
BCIT’s School of Energy is seeking a regular, full-time (1.0 FTE ) Instructor to prepare and deliver courses in the Telecommunication Systems Technician program.
Duties & Responsibilities
The areas of instruction will focus on electronics foundations and networking but also include telecommunication systems and/ or radio frequency systems. The subject matter delivered includes both theory and practical skills.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Diploma or Degree in Wireless Communications or Telecommunications or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of recent work experience as a telecommunications specialist.
- Proficient in hand skills and use of hand tools as required for the telecommunications industry.
- Recent experience with Internet Protocol based network configuration and programming.
- Network certification such as CCNA is desirable.
- Skills and abilities to instruct the curriculum.
- Current computer literacy required (MS Word and Excel).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Supervisory and leadership experience in industry preferred.
- Teaching credential is preferred or the willingness to enroll in the provincial instructor diploma program.
- Teaching experience is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in teams.
- We are seeking to hire an Instructor with strong expertise in:
- Structured cabling systems (copper and fiber installation, termination, and certification)
- Fiber optics (installation, splicing, testing, and industry standards)
- Networking (LAN / WAN fundamentals, IPv4/IPv6, switching and routing, Cisco NetAcad-level instruction).
- VoIP technologies (setup, configuration, and troubleshooting in lab and enterprise contexts)
- Experience with RF/wireless systems is considered an asset, but not a primary requirement at this time.

Salary Range
$78,133 - $115,805 per annum.
