Job summary

Blackline Civil is seeking an experienced Base Foreman to lead base crews on civil construction projects in the Edmonton area. The role focuses on base preparation, grading, and compaction of aggregate materials while ensuring safety and quality standards.

The candidate should have 5+ years in civil construction with supervisory experience, read blueprints, and coordinate with project managers and operators. A valid Class 5 license and safety certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of civil construction experience, including supervisory or foreman duties.
• Strong knowledge of road construction, grading and base preparation.
• Ability to read blueprints, grades and site plans.
• Excellent leadership, communication and organizational skills.
• Experience coordinating crews and heavy equipment operations.
• Valid Class 5 driver''s license required.
• Safety certifications such as CSTS, Ground Disturbance, First Aid are assets.
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends when required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate base crews on civil construction projects.
• Oversee placement, grading, and compaction of aggregate base materials.
• Read and interpret construction drawings, grades, and project specifications.
• Coordinate daily activities with project managers, surveyors, subcontractors, and operators.
• Ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and within quality standards.
• Monitor crew productivity and equipment utilization.
• Conduct site safety meetings and enforce company safety policies.
• Identify and resolve site issues proactively.
• Complete daily reports, timesheets, and project documentation.
• Assist with scheduling materials, equipment, and manpower requirements.
