About The Position

At Dark Horse, we’re looking for a passionate Barista who shares our love for coffee and community and thrives in a team-oriented environment. Ideal candidates will have a natural talent for customer service and enthusiasm for developing their skills within the coffee industry. General Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service and create a warm, inclusive environment
• Prepare coffee beverages according to company recipes, with an emphasis on accurate dial-ins
• Support all cafe products and services, including food, pastries, and merchandise
• Represent Dark Horse within the Toronto specialty coffee community
• Act with integrity, honesty, and knowledge to promote the culture, values, and mission of Dark Horse
• Follow health and safety policies
• Provide management with feedback for process improvements
• Demonstrate strategic understanding of food service operations and provide recommendations
• Assist with ordering, inventory management, queue management, and more as needed
• Follow operational policies and procedures, including cash handling, safety, and security protocols
• Take food and beverage orders using POS systems when necessary
• Stand for extended periods and lift up to 25-30 pounds
• Handle cash transactions with basic math skills
• Maintain regular attendance and punctuality
• Assist with store closing procedures according to guidelines

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong personal brand and ability to build relationships within the industry
• Experience contributing to the successful growth of food properties
• Familiarity with hospitality software including POS, scheduling, and purchasing systems
• Curiosity and willingness to learn, with a focus on personal development
• Ability to inspire and influence staff, customers, and stakeholders
• Positive attitude, excellent communication skills, kindness, and thoughtfulness

Must Have

• Barista experience: 1 year
• Hospitality experience: 1 year
• Specialty coffee experience: 1 year

Schedule and Pay

• Day shifts
• Full-time availability
• Weekends as needed
• Compensation: $17.60/hour plus tips
