Job summary

Americana Conference Resort & Spa in Niagara Falls, Canada is seeking a banquet server to greet guests, guide them to tables, take orders, relay special requests to the kitchen, and serve food and beverages to standards.

The role requires excellent communication, teamwork, and the ability to stand for long periods; Smart Serve certification is preferred, and high school completion is required. This position offers flexible hours in a fast-paced environment with opportunities in a premier resort.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests and direct them to their table or seat.
• Answer questions, take orders, and relay special requests to the kitchen.
• Serve food and beverages to guests in Americana standards.
• Set and maintain table linens; arrange place settings.
• Prepare coffee/tea stations and water pitchers.
• Clear tables and return dishes to the kitchen.
• Ensure safety regulations and high level of guest service.
• Represent Americana F&B department professionally.

Job description

• Greeting guests as they arrive to the event and directing them to their table or seat
• Make sure guests are comfortable by answering any questions, taking their orders, ensuring special requests and instructions are relayed to the kitchen
• Serve food and beverages to guests in accordance with Americana standards
• Lay applicable table linen.
• Set dishes/china and silverware accordingly.
• Prepare coffee/tea station and fill water pitchers to be placed on table.
• Prepare items to be placed on table when guests arrive i.e. salt and pepper, sugar bowls, rolls and butter, salad dressing, etc.
• Refill water and other beverage glasses as required.
• Clear tables throughout meal return dishes/cutlery to kitchen.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as required.
• Assist in keeping the banquet facilities neat and tidy at all times.
• Bring any customer concerns/suggestions to the attention of the Supervisor/Manager immediately.
• Ensure all safety regulations are implemented and followed.
• Ensures the highest level of customer services for guests at all times.
• Professionally represents the Americana and the F&B department at all times.
• All other duties as assigned by Banquet Manager.

Professional Qualifications:

• Completion of High School
• Smart Serve Certification
• Previous serving experience an asset

• Must have excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills and team-building skills
• Must be self-motivated and have excellent time management skills
• Knowledge of food, wine and related beverages
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
• Ability to carry up to 15 pounds
• Work safely in a fast-paced environment
