About the BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB)

The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is one of two branches of government that provide oversight for the beverage alcohol and non‑medical cannabis industries in the province. The LDB is responsible for the wholesale distribution of liquor and cannabis and operates the retail brands BCLIQUOR and BC Cannabis Stores. The LDB’s revenue funds essential public services such as health care, education and community programming.

About this role

The Senior Finance Manager Accounts Receivable & Banking provides expert advice and guidance regarding all aspects of accounts receivables, banking and related financial analysis and controls. The Senior Manager leads and manages LDB’s accounts receivable and banking function, ensuring efficient transaction processing and compliance with regulatory requirements and performance targets.

Responsibilities

The Senior Finance Manager is responsible for financial stewardship, identifying risks and mitigation strategies, and establishing internal controls and processes to support accurate, timely, and efficient financial operations. The role leads a multi‑level service delivery team, provides expert guidance to operational lines of business, and contributes to continuous improvement in the alignment between shared services and internal client operational requirements. The Senior Manager is also accountable for achieving the Finance Department’s service targets.

A criminal record check is required. Successful candidates may be required to work outside regular business hours to meet deadlines as required.

Education and Experience
  • Canadian professional accounting designation (CPA) and membership in good standing. If obtained outside Canada, equivalency must be confirmed through a Canadian Accounting Association.
  • Minimum of 3 years of recent related management experience in a large organization.
  • Experience as a financial manager leading and managing a finance function or business area for a large organization, preferably in a wholesale/retail distribution environment.
  • Supervision of a minimum of five (5) employees in both direct and indirect reporting relationships.
  • Successful leadership of significant change initiatives improving the alignment of financial advice and services with internal client group requirements. Candidates must provide examples of change initiatives.
  • Preference given to candidates with 2 years of recent related experience in the beverage alcohol industry/supply chain.
  • Understanding of large organization criteria: over 500 employees or $30 million in revenue and over $15 million in capital.
