Job summary

Calgary Co‑op is seeking team members to support bakery operations at our Calgary location. The role emphasizes customer service, food safety, and reliable baking-related tasks in a fast-paced retail environment.

Responsibilities include stocking displays, handling merchandise, inventory, and ensuring price integrity while maintaining a clean, safe sales floor and back stock area. Training and development opportunities are available within a large cooperative network.

Qualifications

  • Must be fluent in English.
  • Bakery product knowledge / experience.
  • Grade 9 or acceptable combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provides customer service and maintains positive customer relations through proper handling of customer questions, comments, requests and complaints.
  • Performs all aspects of the Bakery Utility function including but not limited to panning and the operation of the bake-off ovens, bakery platter preparation, icing of names and/or messages on cakes, facing, stocking displays in an efficient and organized manner.
  • Handles merchandise ensuring quality and minimizing damages and markdowns; provides substitutions and ensures price integrity including price changes.
  • Performs general clean up duties such as cleaning spills and display fixtures to ensure a neat and organized department is maintained.
  • Performs duties following established Occupational Health & Safety, Food Safety, and Environmental regulations and policies.
  • Ensures the proper care, use and maintenance of equipment and tools; and reports repair requirements to the Bakery Supervisor, Manager or Duty Manager.
  • Responsible for all aspects of ordering merchandise and supplies.
  • Responsible for all aspects of receiving including reviewing / verifying invoices, returns, transfers, claims and proper storage of products.
  • Assists in organizing and conducting inventory.

  • Handles merchandise ensuring quality and minimizing damages and markdowns. Provides substitutions and ensures price integrity including price changes.
  • Performs general clean up duties such as cleaning spills and display fixtures to ensure a neat and organized department is maintained. Responsible for ensuring the sales floor and back stock area are clean of cardboard and debris, including disposal of garbage.
  • Performs duties following established Occupational Health & Safety, Food Safety, and Environmental regulations and policies to ensure the health and safety of all staff and customers.
  • Ensures the proper care, use and maintenance of equipment and tools; and reports repair requirements to the Bakery Supervisor, Manager or Duty Manager.
  • Responsible for all aspects of ordering merchandise and supplies.
  • Responsible for all aspects of receiving including reviewing / verifying invoices, returns, transfers, claims and proper storage of products.
