Job summary

Randstad Canada is seeking a B-Pressure Welder (TIG Expert) in Calgary, AB. This permanent, full-time role reports to the Welding Supervisor and focuses on high-precision welds for pressure piping and specialized equipment in a clean indoor fabrication shop.

You will be responsible for TIG, MIG, SMAW and MCAW welding with strict adherence to WPS, blueprints, and safety standards. A Calgary-based position with a 4x10 schedule (Mon–Thu, 6:00 AM–4:30 PM) and full-time stability awaits you.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Alberta Journeyman Welder Trade Certificate alongside an active B-Pressure Qualification.
• Superior TIG proficiency with ambidextrous capability.
• A minimum of 5 years in pressure piping fabrication; SAW experience is a bonus.
• Must be prepared to complete hands‑on shop weld assessment (3" Sch 80 roll weld and 3" Sch 80 5G with jig).

Responsibilities

• High-Precision Welding: GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG), SMAW (Stick), MCAW on pressure equipment.
• Team Collaboration with Welding Supervisor and Lead Hand on daily schedules.
• Quality & Specification Control: ensure work meets quality standards, blueprints, and WPS.
• Workplace Safety: uphold shop safety and maintain organized work area.
• Blueprint Analysis: read and apply technical drawings for fit-up and layout.
• Rigging & Equipment Operation: use cranes, forklifts, and rigging gear.

In this permanent role, you will report to the Welding Supervisor and collaborate with the shop team to execute high-precision welds on pressure piping and specialized industrial equipment.

Responsibilities

• High-Precision Welding: Execute flawless welds using GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG), SMAW (Stick), and MCAW techniques across various pressure applications.
• Team Collaboration: Work in close coordination with the Welding Supervisor and Lead Hand to execute daily fabrication schedules efficiently.
• Quality & Specification Control: Verify that all finished work strictly complies with company quality standards, project blueprints, and applicable Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
• Workplace Safety: Consistently enforce shop safety practices and maintain an organized, hazard-free work area.
• Blueprint Analysis: Read and apply technical structural drawings and schematics to guide exact fit-up and layout tasks.
• Rigging & Equipment Operation: Safely maneuver materials around the shop using overhead cranes, forklifts, boom lifts, and standard rigging gear.

Qualifications

• Mandatory Certifications: Must hold a valid Alberta Journeyman Welder Trade Certificate alongside an active B-Pressure Qualification.
• Specialized Welding Abilities: Superior TIG proficiency, with strong priority given to candidates capable of ambidextrous TIG welding (left and right-hand execution).
• Industry Background: A minimum of 5 years in pressure piping fabrication is preferred; experience operating Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) systems is considered a strong bonus.
• Practical Qualification Test: Must be fully prepared to complete and pass a hands‑on shop weld assessment (featuring a 3" Sch 80 roll weld and a 3" Sch 80 5G position test utilizing a specialized jig).
