Job summary

Eastern Townships School Board is seeking a Bus Driver to replace routes within the Richmond Regional High School basin. This role covers Richmond, Drummondville, and Danville, with AM and PM shift blocks.

You will operate a school bus, perform pre- and post-trip inspections, keep accurate logs, maintain the vehicle, and comply with safety standards. Regular hours total about 5 hours per day and 25 per week.

Qualifications

• Hold a driver's license of the class appropriate for the class of employment (Class 1 or Class 2).
• Know how to operate the vehicles mentioned above.
• Have basic skills in heavy vehicle mechanics and preventative maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Drive a school bus and transport passengers.
• Keep the vehicle clean, running, and fueled; perform regular checks.
• Carry out inspections of the vehicle prescribed by law and report any defects.
• Keep a logbook and prepare brief reports on activities related to duties.
• May be required to drive a lighter vehicle.
• Perform any other related duties as needed.

Replacement of any routes within the Richmond Regional High School basin. Can include the following areas: Richmond, Drummondville, Danville

Nature of the work

The principal and customary work of an employee in this class of employment consists in driving a road vehicle of a net weight of more than three thousand (3 000) kilos for the purpose of transporting people as well as goods and materials and performing any other task, such as loading and unloading goods, while adhering to the applicable safety standards.

Characteristic Functions

• Driving a school bus
• Keep the vehicle clean and in good running condition
• Ensure that the vehicle is washed, cleaned and fueled
• As instructed, carry out the inspections of the vehicle prescribed by law, regulations and directives.
• Must report any detected defect
• Keep a road record and prepare brief reports on certain activities related to his or her duties, as required.
• Keeps a logbook and the vehicle's inspection reports in the vehicle.
• May be required to drive a lighter vehicle.
• If need be, performs any other related duty.
