Casual Early Childhood Educator

Casual Early Childhood Educators (ECE's) are required on an “as needed” basis to work at various schools - $16.50/Hr

You must include three work related references with your application including a current phone number and email address if possible. Your references can be a current or previous supervisor from your last position or your supervisor from a practicum or volunteer position.

Reporting to the Pre-Primary Facilitator, the Casual Early Childhood Educator (ECE) will collaboratively work with and support the Lead Early Childhood Educator (LECE) within the Pre-primary Program Team, to ensure a supportive and secure environment for young children attending the Pre-primary Program.

The Requirements of a casual ECE include:
  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education or working toward an Early Childhood Diploma is preferred
  • In-depth understanding of child growth and development and demonstrated knowledge and experience using a play-based pedagogy and child-centered, developmentally appropriate practices
  • Knowledge of health, hygiene and safety including personal/physical care and the safe transfer of students
  • Ability to collaborate with members of a team
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Sensitivity and respect for diversity
  • Respect for confidentiality and privacy protocols
  • Knowledge of basic computer applications and technology
  • Valid Standard First Aid.
