Job summary

A leading automotive manufacturer in Windsor, Ontario is seeking a Production Supervisor. The role involves coaching team members on safety, quality, and productivity while optimizing production throughput. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a High School Diploma, experience in production lines, and the ability to work shifts. Additional qualifications include managing a unionized workforce and proficiency in CNC machining. This is a full-time supplemental role offering growth within a diverse work environment.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent (CAEC)

Experience:

  • 2+ years’ experience working in Production lines.
  • 1+ years’ experience working with and supervising unionized workforce and understanding of CBA (collective bargaining agreement)
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Availability to work in shifts (morning/afternoon/evening) as required.


Preferred Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree (Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of degree completion for the highest level of education attained. If the degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada, an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required).

Experience:

  • Experience in body shop, stamping, paint, subassembly, or machining preferred.
  • Safety and Quality experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and constraint management principles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook).
  • Prior experience managing a unionized workforce.
  • Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining experience (specific to Power Take-Off).
  • Helium leak stand experience (specific to Power Take-Off).
  • Adept problem-solving and conflict management skills.
  • Effective organizational and administrative capabilities.
  • Note: This is a supplemental role (non permanent) but full-time hours are offered.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities for the position include but are not limited to

  • Coachteam members on Safety, Quality, and Productivity to ensure objectives are met by adhering to standardized work.
  • Optimizeproduction throughput in alignment with budget and cost objectives.
  • MonitorANDON (a system to notify production issues) occurrences and serve as the initial responder for secondary support.
  • Verifythe production line's safe and smooth operation, and its output of quality parts, through Process Confirmation.
  • SupportKaizen (Continuous Improvement) initiatives and coach problem resolution at the lowest possible level.
  • Meettargets for First Time Through (FTT), inventory, cost, scrap, supply, and tooling expenses.
  • Buildthe capability of both Team Leaders and Team Members.
  • Createa conducive work environment that enables teams to complete their assigned responsibilities and tasks.
  • Ensureeffective communication and recognition within the team.
  • Performbasic administration of supervisory duties and documentation.
