Job description

Zurich Canada is seeking an AVP, Personal Auto Pricing to provide support and advice to the Head of Retail, Chief Pricing Actuary, and various business partners, including insights required for performance management. Reporting to the VP & Actuarial Director, you will lead the discussion and completion of the rate change, filing & implementation process with rate regulators and partners, and work to increase the level of risk segmentation of pricing algorithm. This is a hybrid work opportunity.

What you will do
  • Under minimal supervision, support the pricing of new business and renewal book and development of effective premium / rating structures.
  • Lead interaction and act as subject matter expert with rate regulators, external partners and auditors on pricing topics.
  • Lead development of the technical capabilities of the team, including creation and interpretation of predictive models as well as reporting capabilities
  • Extensive understanding of factors impacting loss cost and premium and support efforts for an increase pricing sophistication
  • Under minimal supervision, manage profit margins on new and renewal business and assist in the monitoring of portfolio performance.
  • With appropriate review, coordinate, prepare and perform actuarial analyses including trend analyses, reinsurance analyses and analyses of loss and expense reserves, as it relates to pricing adequacy and strategic direction.
  • Support Market Facing and Product Underwriting on pricing decisions.
  • Provide consultation and technical expertise on actuarial models and risk issues.
  • Drive the design, implementation, testing and maintenance of pricing models and Tools.
  • Remain current with regulatory / market conditions and apply this knowledge in pricing.
  • Support the team’s junior analysts with the actuarial tasks and their professional development
Job Qualifications - What you bring to the table
  • Required:
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associates Degree
  • OR
  • AND
  • 8 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area plus FCAS or equivalent international certification
  • OR
  • 13 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area plus ACAS or equivalent international certification
  • Preferred:
  • Experience in multiple pricing functional lines of business in different provinces and knowledge / skills reflective of a senior practitioner
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
