Job summary

SKYTRAC Kelowna, BC, Canada, is seeking an Avionics Design and Airworthiness Engineer to join the Design Approval Organization (DAO). You will lead avionics certification activities across STC programs, mentor junior engineers, and ensure compliance with DO-160, EWIS, and system safety requirements.

The role is in-office in Kelowna with relocation support. 3+ years of avionics certification experience and a P.Eng. designation or eligibility are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree in Electrical, Electronics, Aerospace, or Avionics Engineering
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in avionics certification and system integration
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility
  • Demonstrated experience with STC development and avionics certification approval processes
  • Strong knowledge of TCCA airworthiness regulations and avionics compliance requirements (DO-160, system safety, EWIS)
  • Experience reviewing and authoring complex technical certification documentation
  • Willingness to travel as required

Responsibilities

  • Lead avionics system design and integration activities for STC development programs
  • Develop and review avionics certification deliverables, including wiring diagrams, EWIS analyses, installation drawings, and equipment interface definitions
  • Support and lead compliance demonstration activities for avionics systems (DO-160, system safety, EMI/EMC, ELA)
  • Prepare and review Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA), Flight Manual Supplements (FMS), and related certification documentation
  • Develop and execute certification plans and means of compliance for avionics systems
  • Lead end-to-end avionics engineering activities across concurrent STC programs
  • Perform aircraft surveys and support avionics installation and integration activities
  • Support ground and flight test campaigns, including certification test witnessing
  • Manage multi-platform STC expansions and amendments for avionics systems
  • Ensure compliance with applicable airworthiness regulations (TCCA, FAA, EASA) for avionics systems
  • Interface with the DAO Delegate and Transport Canada as required during certification activities
  • Support DAO governance, including ACC participation, internal audits, and process improvement
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in avionics certification and system integration
  • Mentor junior electrical and avionics engineers on certification processes and best practices
  • Provide technical leadership across engineering, programs, and certification teams

We are seeking an experienced Avionics Design and Airworthiness Engineer to join our Design Approval Organization (DAO). Reporting to the DAO Manager, this role is a senior technical contributor responsible for avionics design, integration, and certification activities across SKYTRAC's STC development programs. You will lead avionics-intensive certification efforts, mentor junior engineers, and enable multiple parallel programs to execute efficiently.

This is an in-office position, based in Kelowna, BC. Relocation support is available.

As an Avionics Design and Airworthiness Engineer, responsibilities include:

  • Lead avionics system design and integration activities for STC development programs
  • Develop and review avionics certification deliverables, including wiring diagrams, EWIS analyses, installation drawings, and equipment interface definitions
  • Support and lead compliance demonstration activities for avionics systems (DO-160, system safety, EMI/EMC, ELA)

STC Program Execution

What You Bring
Candidate Must Have’s
  • Engineering degree in Electrical, Electronics, Aerospace, or Avionics Engineering

The salary range for this role is $80,000 - $110,000 CAD. The range posted is a guide and may not represent the compensation offered to the successful candidate. Compensation is based on the skills, knowledge, experience, and qualifications brought to the role.
