Job summary

A leading training provider in Canada is seeking an Aviation Course Instructor to develop and deliver training programs for the Canadian Forces School of Aerospace Training and Engineering. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in aircraft maintenance and prior instructional roles, ensuring effective training for adult learners. Bilingualism and the ability to obtain a Government Security Clearance are advantageous.

Qualifications

  • Minimum three years of experience as an aircraft maintenance technician or a certified aircraft maintenance engineer.
  • At least one year of instructional experience in an adult education environment.

Responsibilities

Position Overview

Calian is seeking an Aviation Course Instructor for our client, the Canadian Forces School of Aerospace Training and Engineering. Successful candidates will be required to work onsite in Borden, ON.

Responsibilities
  • Must provide curriculum for all training requirements
  • Perform instructional duties in accordance with approved instructional techniques, while ensuring the safety and security of personnel and equipment
  • Prepare, maintain, and revise lesson plans and student study manuals in accordance with current TPs and approved guidelines
  • Design and develop activities
  • Assist the course director in advising students on their performance and proctoring exams
  • Create entries in the student registry to prepare course reports, advising, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned or required
Qualifications

Civilian-Trained Personnel: (A or B)

  • A: Graduation from an aircraft maintenance technician or aircraft gas turbine engine repair and overhaul technician program offered by a technical institute recognized by the Canadian Aviation and Aerospace Council for the delivery of one or more accredited programs and three (3) years experience as an aircraft maintenance technician or aircraft gas turbine engine repair and overhaul technician in an aircraft maintenance organization, or;
  • B: Graduation from a program offered by a technical institute recognized by Transport Canada as an approved training organization and three (3) years experience as a certified aircraft maintenance engineer in an aircraft maintenance organization, and
  • At least one (1) year of instructional experience in an adult education environment, plus one (1) year of instructional experience, instructional support or a mixture of instructional experience and instructional support experience in an adult education environment. Instructional experience is defined as instructional or teaching duties or tasks within a classroom, lab, or other similar environment. Instructional support experience is defined as duties or tasks in support of instruction including course standards, course development and student evaluation

Canadian Forces-Trained Personnel:

  • Qualified AVN (or trade level QL 5 for equivalent prior to 1996); and
  • At least one (1) year of instructional experience in an adult education environment, plus one (1) year of instructional experience, instructional support or a mixture of instructional experience and instructional support experience in an adult education environment. Instructional experience is defined as instructional or teaching duties or tasks within a classroom, lab, or other similar environment. Instructional support experience is defined as duties or tasks in support of instruction including course standards, course development and student evaluation
Additional Requirements
  • Bilingualism is a valuable asset
  • You will be able to obtain a Government Security Clearance at the Secret level
