Job summary

Coast Mountain College (CMTN) invites applications for a non-regular term position to instruct in the Automotive Trades program at the Prince Rupert campus, commencing November 16, 2026 and ending February 23, 2027. Salary is according to the BCGEU Instructor salary scale (37.55–53.80 CAD per hour).

The instructor will co-teach at Charles Hayes Secondary School one day per week, ensuring student success, preparing lessons, delivering instruction, and maintaining shop safety and records.

Qualifications

• Interprovincial Red Seal Endorsement as an Automotive Service Technician is required.
• Grade 12 or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 5 years of varied field experience as a Journeyperson with 5 years in a supervisory capacity.
• Provincial Instructor's Diploma or teaching certification is preferred.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Co-teach at Charles Hayes Secondary School one day per week.
• Ensure student success through course preparation, teaching, feedback, and direction.
• Oversee shop safety and related administrative duties, records, and monitoring activities.
• Prepare lesson plans, course materials, and assessments aligned to outcomes.
• Evaluate student progress and maintain attendance and performance records.
• Mentor youth and foster a positive learning environment.
