Qualifications

  • Red Seal Electrician certification is a plus.

Job description
Automation Technician

An Automation Technician plays a key role in supporting the electrical and control systems of mineral processing and aggregate equipment. This is a hands‑on position based in the shop.

Responsibilities
  • Wire and test machines in the shop.
  • Write and troubleshoot machine programs.
  • Support technical documentation and manuals.
  • Provide customer support by reviewing requirements, developing control system designs, and estimating costs.
  • Review and check drawings and systems, including P&ID, loop diagrams, and electrical/control equipment.
  • Maintain professional and timely vendor communication.
  • Operate independently in remote locations without direct supervision.
  • Travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time.
Essential Skills
  • Experience in automation and electrical systems.
  • PLC programming and troubleshooting (Siemens, Mitsubishi).
  • Hands‑on experience with automation equipment such as panels and VFDs.
  • Proficiency in wiring, testing, and commissioning equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and mechanical diagrams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with mineral processing equipment, metallurgical testing, and process consulting is nice to have.
  • Red Seal Electrician certification is a plus.
  • ERP experience is advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
