Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of automation technician experience required.

AUTOMATION/INSTRUMENTATION TECHNICIAN-A/B SHIFT-BROOKS, AB

With approximately 3,300 employees, JBS Food Canada ULC (“JBS Canada”) is one of Canada’s largest beef processors. Consisting of four locations—the main processing facility located in Brooks, Alberta, where approximately 4,200 head of cattle are harvested and processed daily; the Head Office and a case ready plant, both based in Calgary, Alberta; and JBS Ontario, a case ready plant located in Belleville, Ontario. The JBS Canada facility in Brooks has the capacity to produce products ranging from boxed beef primals, ground beef, beef trimmings, beef by‑products and hides which are shipped across Canada and worldwide. At the multi‑protein Mountain Creek Farms case‑ready facility in Calgary, JBS Canada produces value‑added products including marinated, portion‑sized, multi‑pack options, kebabs and much more. JBS Ontario in Belleville produces fresh meat and seafood products for leading retailers in Canada.

NOTE: THIS ROLE WILL BE LOCATED IN BROOKS, AB

**RELOCATION ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE**

You will:

Assist plant production by troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining and providing support following

  • Design, implement and maintain PLC, HMI and SCADA‑based control system
  • Perform troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of automated systems, including PLCs, HMI, VFD, sensors and actuators
  • Integrate field devices including sensors, actuators, and instrumentation into control systems
  • Install, calibrate, and maintain electrical and measuring instrumentation equipment
  • Collaborate with maintenance, production and IT team to optimize processes
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, and control schematics for troubleshooting and project work.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on automation and instrumentation devices
  • Install, configure and troubleshoot metal detectors and weighing scales
  • Work on different types of meat analyzers, such as Foss meat analyzers
  • Install, configure and maintain numerous industrial label printers and applicators
  • Work on custom data collection and warehousing systems
  • Assist the electrical department in programming VFD.
  • Create and update custom software for production devices (scales, printers, etc.)
  • Install and terminate network cabling and other duties as assigned.

You have:

  • Experience with PLC programming (Allen‑Bradley, Omron)
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills as well as demonstrated problem‑solving skills are required
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Minimum 1 year of automation technician experience
