Job summary

Mac Lang Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Sundridge, Ontario seeks three Automotive Service Technicians to diagnose, repair, service and maintain motor vehicles per manufacturer specs and dealership standards.

The successful candidates will inspect and test automotive systems, identify faults, document work, road test vehicles when required, and communicate findings to the Service Advisor.

Qualifications

  • Candidates must have: Other trades certificate or diploma, or equivalent experience.
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.

Responsibilities

  • Review repair orders and perform assigned work efficiently and accurately in accordance with manufacturer and dealership standards.
  • Inspect and test mechanical units, automotive systems and components to locate faults and malfunctions.
  • Inspect motors in operation and diagnose the causes of vehicle malfunctions using appropriate diagnostic procedures and equipment.
  • Diagnose vehicle malfunctions and recommend and perform appropriate repairs.
  • Test and adjust repaired systems to ensure they meet manufacturer specifications.
  • Communicate with the Service Advisor or Shop Foreman regarding required repairs and the status of assigned work.

Education

Job description

Mac Lang Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram is seeking three Automotive Service Technicians to join its service team in Sundridge, Ontario.

The Automotive Service Technician will diagnose, repair, service and maintain motor vehicles in accordance with manufacturer specifications and dealership standards.

The successful candidates will inspect and test automotive systems and mechanical components, identify faults and malfunctions, perform required repairs and maintenance, road test vehicles and accurately document work performed.

The Automotive Service Technicians will:
  • Review repair orders and perform assigned work efficiently and accurately in accordance with manufacturer and dealership standards.
  • Inspect and test mechanical units, automotive systems and components to locate faults and malfunctions.
  • Inspect motors in operation and diagnose the causes of vehicle malfunctions using appropriate diagnostic procedures and equipment.
  • Confirm findings with the appropriate supervisor to determine whether mechanical units or components should be adjusted, repaired or replaced.
  • Diagnose vehicle malfunctions and recommend and perform appropriate repairs.
  • Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of automotive systems.
  • Repair or replace mechanical units and components as required.
  • Test and adjust repaired systems to ensure they meet manufacturer specifications.
  • Examine vehicles to identify additional repair or maintenance requirements that may not be included on the original repair order and communicate findings to the Service Advisor or Shop Foreman.
  • Review work orders and communicate with the Service Advisor or Shop Foreman regarding required repairs and the status of assigned work.
  • Communicate with the Parts Department to identify and obtain parts required to complete repairs.
  • Notify the Service Advisor or Shop Foreman when additional work is required, when work identified on a repair order is not required, or when repairs cannot be completed within the expected timeframe.
  • Estimate parts and labour requirements associated with vehicle maintenance and repairs, as required.
  • Perform scheduled vehicle maintenance services in accordance with manufacturer recommendations.
  • Road test motor vehicles as required to diagnose concerns and verify completed repairs, or refer vehicles to the appropriate inspection technician where applicable.
  • Clearly and accurately complete reports and repair documentation recording identified problems, diagnostic findings, repairs and other work performed.
  • Advise customers, through the appropriate dealership process, regarding work performed and future repair or maintenance requirements.
  • Attend and successfully complete factory or manufacturer training as required and remain current with applicable factory technical bulletins and product information.
  • Follow applicable warranty procedures, including warranty material disposition requirements.
  • Follow applicable federal, provincial and local requirements relating to automotive repair, consumer protection and the handling or disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Maintain customer vehicles and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Safeguard dealership-owned tools and equipment and return them to their designated locations in appropriate condition after use.
  • Comply with all applicable workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to apprentice technicians when assigned.
