Job description

Hundseth Power Line Construction (HPL) is a Saskatchewan-based, family-owned business, headquartered in Saskatoon, with additional site offices in Regina and Humboldt. We are currently seeking an Auto Body Technician for our Saskatoon service shop.

The successful candidate will be a qualified and motivated self starter who will provide structural metal repairs on all HPL fleet by disassembling, replacing, and re-assembling vehicles to meet our specifications of quality, in our fast paced mechanic shop and equipment yard. Reliable and accountable, the successful candidate will also perform surface preparation, priming, and top coating to refinish all repaired and replaced body components. The successful candidate will liaise with other technicians to estimate repair cost and time, complete inspections and plan repair work to be performed, in a safe, professional, and time efficient manner.

Candidates with at least two to three years of autobody experience are preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Inspection, disassembly, reassembly, and damage repair to vehicle body components
  • Hammer dents, buckles, and defects in addition to grinding and sanding body surfaces to be repaired
  • Removal of fenders, panels, grills, and replace parts by weld or bolt
  • Mask, tape, prime, and paint repaired surfaces
  • Repair or replace interior components
  • Removal and installation of welded components and sections to vehicles
  • Fibreglass work and Fabrication experience required
  • Use welding equipment or filler to fill holes, dents, seams, and panels
  • Replacement of front end and body components, doors, frame, and underbody
  • Estimate cost and time of service work
  • Follow checklists to ensure thorough examination of all parts and systems
  • Basic electrical experience would be considered an asset
Requirements
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Must hold a valid class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver abstract.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of postsecondary program, such as Saskatchewan Polytechnic, in auto body and collision and / or automotive refinishing technician.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Physical strength and stamina, and the ability to lift over 50 pounds.
  • This position is considered a safety sensitive position; the successful applicant will be required to complete pre-employment medical testing that includes a drug and alcohol screening.
