Job summary

A major sports and entertainment venue in Ottawa is seeking a Program Support role to assist during weekly sports sessions for youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Job description

The Program Support role is focused on providing hands‑on assistance during weekly sport sessions, ensuring that individual participant needs are met. This position requires a deeper level of engagement with children and youth to support their participation and enjoyment.

Autism Moves is a youth empowerment program that promotes physical activity, fundamental movement skills, and peer connection for youth ages 6 to 17 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) through sport. With the support of trained program leaders and volunteers, youth will increase physical activity level and movement skills, increase mental health and well-being, and increase sense of belonging in sport.

What you’ll do:
  • Assist in delivering sport sessions with the guidance and support of the Coach and Program Leader.
  • Provide one‑on‑one or small‑group support to participants, adapting activities to their needs.
  • Monitor participant behaviour and collaborate with the Coach to address challenges.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive environment for all participants.
  • Set up and clean up materials and equipment for each session.
What’s needed:
  • Experience working directly with children and youth, particularly those with autism and cognitive disabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build connection with participants.
  • Knowledge of inclusive practices and sensory‑sensitive approaches.
  • Enthusiasm for sports and physical activity.
  • Proven ability to manage teams and coordinate logistics effectively.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Strong ability to problem‑solve and think on your feet.
  • Professional appearance and positive attitude.
  • Availability to work on weekends and weeknights.
  • Access to an e‑vehicle to attend different program sites.
  • Bilingualism (English & French) is considered an asset.
  • Able to provide a clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
