Job summary

CIBC is seeking a results-driven Internal Audit professional in Toronto to support audits across Data, AI, Third Party and Project risk. You will lead testing, document work per audit methodology, and deliver actionable recommendations to management.

You will collaborate with Internal Audit teams, build relationships with stakeholders, and adapt to a hybrid schedule with on-site and remote days. A strong focus on accuracy and risk controls is essential.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of audit experience with knowledge of audit practices, procedures and principles.
• Asset for data governance, data management, AI governance, records management, third party risk or project risk.

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you’ll report to the Director of Internal Audit, and you are expected to have experience working in audit, risk management or compliance with understanding of one of the following areas - Third party risk, Data Governance, AI Governance, Records Management and Project or Change risk.

You’ll support Internal Audit teams that ensure suitable coverage of Data, AI, Third Party and Project risk within the audit universe, providing leadership, insight and proactive control advice to management. You’ll participate in various audits and objectively evaluate the design and effectiveness of processes and controls across the portfolio. You’ll perform and document your work in accordance with CIBC Internal Audit methodology and will be accountable for the quality of audit procedures and documentation prepared by you.

How you’ll succeed

• Execute Audits - Participate in or manage the execution of risk-based audits within the portfolio. Ensure audit engagements maintain thorough and high-quality results within defined audit plans and budgets. Oversee and participate in testing, report audit results, and perform continuous monitoring of management’s control environment. Effectively manage validation of deficiencies by reviewing the artifacts supporting corrective action plans and assessing whether actions remediated the risks.
• Support Internal Audit teams by providing consultation and/or executing procedures to cover Data, AI, Third Party and Project risk within the audit universe, as well as providing guidance where required.
• Facilitate Communication - Communicate trends in risk and control issues to Internal Audit management and contribute to reports to senior management on the results of ongoing reviews across the portfolio. Demonstrate clear, concise and influential written and verbal communication skills when issuing audit reports, discussing audit findings, resolving conflicts, or interacting with management and stakeholders.
• Develop strong internal relationships through ongoing communication on engagement progress and by providing advice on risk, control and regulatory matters.

Who you are

• You have 2-3 years of audit experience and can demonstrate strong knowledge of audit practices, procedures, and principles, including testing controls, assessing risk, and maintaining clear file documentation. You are able to analyze client operations, identify and evaluate key risks, and determine the most appropriate audit approach. Exposure to one or more of the following areas is considered an asset: Data Governance, Data Management, AI Governance, Records Management, Third Party Risk, or Project Risk processes and controls. You must also have proven ability to write clear, concise, and comprehensive reports for senior leadership.
• You’re a certified professional (Good to have). You have in-depth knowledge or certification, or equivalent, in one or more of the following: Data such as DCAM (Data Capability Assessment Maturity); AI such as NIST AI Risk Management Foundations or AAIA – Advanced in AI Audit; Third Party such as Certified Third Party Risk Professional; Project such as Project Management Professional; CISA – Certified Information Systems Auditor.
