Reporting to the Senior Manager(s), Human Resources Services, the Attendance Support Officer role operates as part of a team and is responsible for attendance monitoring and disability management support for the Board in a unionized and non‑unionized environment. The role oversees the daily administration of the Short‑Term Leave and Disability (STLD) provisions and the employer‑required administration of Long‑Term Disability (LTD), ensuring all processes align with the Board’s obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC), including the duty to accommodate, non‑discrimination, and the respectful treatment of employees. The incumbent will collaborate with key stakeholders – including but not limited to management, principals, and Human Resources Services Partners, Health and Safety Officer(s), the WSIB Officer, and external agencies – to equitable, confidential, and timely support that enables employees with disabilities to safely and successfully perform their duties.
The Attendance Support Officer also administers the Attendance Support Program, ensuring that it is designed and implemented fairly and consistently in accordance with PPM 171, the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC), and all applicable legislation, regulations, and Board policies and procedures. Specifically, the incumbent is responsible for monitoring and analyzing absence statistics, generating reports, scheduling and meeting with employees as required, and maintaining the strict confidentiality and security of all medical information.
