EDC’s Structured and Project Finance Team (SPF) is a leader in global project and infrastructure finance, playing a significant role in helping Canada grow and diversify its international trade and build trade-enabling infrastructure in Canada. Since its establishment in 1995, the SPF team has successfully closed over 700 financing transactions globally, totalling more than USD 60 billion. The SPF team also provides thought leadership to internal and government stakeholders on major critical minerals, energy transition, and trade-enabling infrastructure projects.
Project Finance is a specialized field of finance where financing decisions are based on project-specific cash flows and assets. It is widely used across industries such as energy, renewables, mining/critical minerals, transportation infrastructure and digital infrastructure. EDC’s project finance counterparties include top-tier international sponsors, exporters, law firms and global project finance and investment banks.
The Associate and Senior Associate roles provide the opportunity to develop and apply project-finance expertise through hands‑on involvement in financial modelling and sensitivity analysis, credit structuring, due diligence, legal documentation, and interactions with clients, sponsors, advisors and co‑financiers.
Associates and Senior Associates will participate in EDC’s Project Finance Associate Program (PFAP), which combines structured learning, mentorship by senior team members, regular feedback and hands‑on transaction experience in high‑impact projects. The program develops project‑finance capabilities in areas such as financial modelling and sensitivity analysis, credit structuring, due diligence, legal documentation, and engagement with clients, sponsors, advisors and co‑financiers.
Participation in the program will be tailored to each individual’s role, experience and development needs. Associates will generally complete the full program, while Senior Associates may follow an accelerated or customised learning path that recognises their prior experience while ensuring familiarity with EDC’s project‑finance practices and processes.
