Job summary

Doane Grant Thornton in Toronto is seeking an Associate, Restructuring to join a high‑performing team. You’ll work on complex local and national matters, building relationships with clients, lawyers and lenders while applying accounting and finance skills in a professional services setting.

The role requires post‑secondary business education and about 1 year in a public accounting firm; strong MS Office skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in a business-related field.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a public accounting firm is preferred.
• Independent, intuitive thinker with the ability to apply accounting skills and business acumen.
• Ability to execute at a high standard in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment, and work beyond standard business hours as needed.
• Knowledge or experience with corporate insolvency assignments is a benefit.

Responsibilities

• Develop positive relationships with corporate restructuring professionals and external stakeholders.
• Draft routine client communications, such as responses to inquiries, letters, and memoranda.
• Project management: tracking client deliverables, preparing meeting agendas, note-taking.
• Adhere to firm risk management policies and minimize risk exposure to the firm.
• Attend business development events.
• Communicate with Bank customers to arrange repayment of advances.
• Assess viability of diverse business entities in various industries.
• Provide oversight of asset sales through data room monitoring and site inspections.

As an Associate, Restructuring your duties and responsibilities will include:

We benchmark regularly across a wide spectrum of roles, industries, sectors, and levels to ensure our ranges are both competitive and current. But we don’t stop there. We also consider the unique strengths, experiences, and impact each individual brings to the table. Our salary ranges are reviewed annually, and where you land within the range depends on a mix of factors—your background, your skills, and how your contributions align with internal equity. To help start the conversation, the current salary range for this role is $54,200–$74,550 in Toronto. If the role is available in other locations, the range may differ to reflect local market factors.
