The appointment will be at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2027.

Requirements and Qualifications

Applicants must have earned a PhD in Economics, with a clearly demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching. The Committee encourages applications from across the discipline but is particularly interested in scholars whose work engages with economic policy and/or reflects a deep understanding of global economics. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and enhance our existing strengths.

Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence which can include a record of sustained high‑impact publications in top‑ranked and/or field‑relevant academic outlets, the submitted research statement, presentations at significant conferences, awards or accolades, other noteworthy activities that contribute to the visibility and prominence of the discipline, and strong endorsements from referees of high standing.

Evidence of excellence in teaching will be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, the teaching dossier (including the required materials outlined below) and strong letters of reference.

Applicants must submit a cover letter; a current curriculum vitae; a research statement outlining current and future research interests; a recent writing sample; a teaching dossier with a teaching statement, sample course materials, and teaching evaluations; and the name and contact information of three references.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to sustain, lead, and publish innovative and independent scholarly research, and to maintain an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program.

In addition, the successful candidate will be assigned a service and teaching load that includes teaching economics to students from a wide range of academic backgrounds in the Munk School’s undergraduate and professional graduate programs (the Master of Global Affairs and the Master of Public Policy).

Hiring Salary Range

The rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The salary range for this position exceeds $200,000 CAD per annum.
