Job Description
The Portfolio Management Office (PoMO) is seeking a highly motivated Associate to join its Project Execution Governance (PEG) team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing governance oversight to assigned projects, driving improvements in governance effectiveness, and ensuring adherence to RBC-mandated delivery frameworks and methodologies. The Associate will also collaborate with Sponsors, Business Owners, project practitioners, Risk Groups and Centers of Governance (CoGs) to oversee, track and ensure compliance with the Change Initiative Risk Assessment (CIRA) Standard and ensure the adoption of the Integrated Risk Profile (IRP) Tool across IS. This role will play a critical part in enhancing the overall project and risk management capabilities within RBC Investor Services.
What will you do?
- Oversee the RBC Enterprise Project Delivery Risk Standard gate crossing process, including performing deep dive reviews and quality assurance control checks of risk-related artifacts.
- Play a key role in implementing the IRP Tool and increasing its adoption across the IS Portfolio.
- Engage with Sponsors to facilitate the assignment of Business Owners, ensuring the early commencement of future state risk assessments.
- Provide future state risk management oversight and monitoring analytics to drive early identification and insightful recommendations of risk mitigation opportunities for the IS Portfolio.
- Develop and implement standard future state risk tracking processes to improve governance effectiveness and adherence to RBC-mandated project management delivery frameworks.
- Coach and facilitate training sessions for Sponsors, Business Owners, Project/Program Managers on project management best practices and protocols, including the CIRA Standard, IRP Tool, and other risk frameworks.
- Partner with key 1st and 2nd Line of Defense (LOD) Risk stakeholders and Centers of Governance.
- Manage and facilitate Risk Advisory Sessions for the IS Project Portfolio, ensuring compliance with RBC policies and standards.
What do you need to have?
Must-have
- 3+ years’ experience as PMO Analyst or Risk Manager, with proven experience in risk management, program/project executive reporting and leadership
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; comfort working across technical and business audiences
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Self-starter with a proactive mindset and ownership mentality
Nice-to-have
- Familiarity with project or portfolio management methodologies (e.g., Agile, waterfall, stage-gate)
- Experience working with enterprise portfolio management tools (e.g., Planview Portfolio Management, Clarity)
- PMP
