Job summary

First National Financial in Montreal is seeking an Associate Mortgage Underwriter to support Third Party Residential Underwriting. You will review documentation, apply due diligence, and escalate issues to ensure accurate mortgage decisions.

Reporting to the Manager, Third Party Residential Underwriting, you will build relationships with brokers and external partners, verify income, down payment and property details, and help meet turnaround targets in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Completed post-secondary education or equivalent work experience.
• Experience in Financial Services is preferred.
• Mortgage industry experience is an asset.
• Working knowledge of Windows PC software.
• Ability to build positive relationships and deliver service excellence.
• Ability to manage high-volume processing with tight turnaround times.

Responsibilities

• Establishes and maintains relationships with mortgage brokers to build loyalty to the Company.
• Maintains relationships with mortgage insurers, appraisers, title insurers, and notaries.
• Collects required documents to satisfy mortgage commitment conditions.
• Reviews documents for income, down payment and property with due diligence and compliance.
• Escalates documentation issues to Underwriter for review and sign-off.
• Documents clear and complete notes in the mortgage underwriting system.
• Responds to inquiries within established turnaround times.
• Adheres to AML policies and procedures.
