Our long-standing Edmonton-based client in the legal sector is seeking a talented and client-focused Wills & Estates Associate Lawyer to join their growing firm. About the Role

The successful candidate will work closely with two to three Partners in the group, supported by a collaborative team environment. The Wills & Estates Group meets biweekly for practice discussions and training, fostering a culture of mentorship, development, and professional excellence. You’ll be handling a broad range of estate files and working directly with clients, so strong communication and interpersonal skills are key. You’ll also benefit from full training on advanced legal tech tools and a structured annual development process designed to support your growth and goals.

Practice Focus
  • Estate planning and administration, including wills, trusts, probate, and incapacity planning
  • Advising on and drafting enduring powers of attorney and personal directives
  • Some estate-related litigation and dispute resolution
  • Regular client-facing work with a focus on providing practical, tailored legal solutions
  • Strong drafting skills and knowledge of estate processes required
  • A long-term commitment to Wills & Estates law is essential
What We’re Looking For
  • 3 to 7 years of post-call experience in Wills & Estates (open to more senior candidates)
  • JD or LLB and admitted to the Alberta Bar (no exceptions)
  • In good standing with the Law Society of Alberta
  • Excellent drafting, analytical, and client service skills
  • Professional, polished, and community-minded
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities
  • Highly organized with effective file and practice management skills
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Prior experience in estate litigation is an asset but not required
