Job description

Costas Law Firm, LLC is seeking an Associate Immigration Attorney to handle a wide variety of immigration cases with a focus on litigation in Immigration Court. Apart from removal defense practice, the caseload will include USCIS cases such as family-based adjustment of status, naturalization, immigrant and non-immigrant visas, and humanitarian cases (U Visas, VAWA, Asylum). The ideal candidate will be motivated and driven, adaptable, with a passion for immigration law, who thrives on working under pressure. The position requires working within defined filing schedules, so the perfect candidate will be able to multitask, stay organized, and be task oriented. Must have a minimum of 1-2 years prior work experience in immigration law. While we will consider experience working as a law clerk or in an immigration clinic, the perfect candidate will have prior experience working as an attorney in private practice. Excellent writing and interpersonal skills required. Prior removal defense experience highly preferred. Spanish language skills preferred, but not required.

Job Duties include:

  • Consulting and working directly with clients on various immigration matters before USCIS And the Executive Office of Immigration Review (Immigration Court);
  • Preparing Asylum and Cancellation of Removal cases for trial, preparing clients and witnesses before hearings, and appearing in Immigration Court;
  • Screening legal issues and formulating strategies on cases;
  • Writing Motions and Legal Briefs;
  • Staying abreast of immigration policy and law developments;
  • Supervising and training paralegals as needed;
  • Engaging in community and business development activities on behalf of the firm.
