Job summary

Scotiabank in Toronto seeks an Associate Director for Trade & Working Capital Solutions within GTB. The role focuses on identifying and providing appropriate solutions for a dedicated client portfolio while strengthening client relationships and ensuring regulatory and internal policy compliance.

This is a one-year contract position with exposure to commercial banking clients. You will work with Coverage, Risk, and Operations teams to structure and onboard transactions, review terms with Legal

Qualifications

  • Bilingual in French & English required.
  • 3–5 years of relevant commercial banking experience.
  • Proven ability to develop client pitches and drive business growth.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with client stakeholders.
  • Experience in credit analysis, risk assessment and structuring.

Responsibilities

  • Develop trade & working capital solutions for a dedicated client portfolio.
  • Lead end-to-end onboarding with internal partners (Coverage, Risk, Execution, Operations).
  • Prepare credit presentations and recommendations for working capital solutions.
  • Identify market trends and opportunities; deliver client pitches and structured transactions.
  • Manage risk within the bank's appetite and internal controls.

Purpose Support in identifying and providing appropriate trade & working capital solutions for a dedicated client portfolio. Contribute to strengthening client relationship by ensuring specific client pitches, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the overall business strategies and objectives. Ensure that all activities conducted follow governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. This would be a one year contract position.

What You'll Do

  • Champion client focused culture to develop the most appropriate solution that enhances the overall client relationship and leverage internal and external stakeholder relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Be subject matter expert responsible for providing trade & working capital solutions to dedicated client portfolio
  • Contribute to the clients’ and GTB business goals by providing the right solution, that retains and increases the overall profitability of the client relationship while maintaining an acceptable level of risk
  • Identify market trends that could drive new opportunities, prepare and deliver client pitches, structure and analyze new transactions
  • Work closely with Coverage team to grow and expand existing relationship, complete risk assessments and prepare credit presentations and recommendations for working capital solutions
  • Review trade & working capital solutions terms and credit/legal documentation in conjunction with internal and external Legal Counsel, culminating in the closing of transactions
  • Lead end-to-end product onboarding of new clients by coordinating with internal partners (Coverage, Risk, Execution, Operations, etc).
  • Identify and provide risk mitigation strategies such that, the risk of any Trade & Working Capital Solution is within the Bank’s risk appetite and our risk culture
  • Pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Champions a high performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment

What You'll Bring:

  • Bilingual communication skills in French & English
  • 3-5 years of relevant commercial banking experience
  • Seasoned professional with a combination of education, experience and industry knowledge. Demonstrated a history of successful business development activity with complex clients
  • Excellent communication skills with a track record in building relationships with clients and prospects.
  • Proven negotiation and active listening skills. Critical and strategic thinking.
  • Concern and regard for managing operational and enterprise risk.
  • Demonstrated experience of meeting or exceeding sales goals as a proven top individual contributor.
  • Experience in credit analysis, risk assessment, and structuring is essential
  • Experience in contract negotiations with both clients and legal counsel
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
