Associate Director, Hospitality – Roynat Capital – Toronto, Ontario

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Acts as an Industry Specialist, providing guidance and expertise.
- Develops and executes a business plan to achieve individual target objectives and ensure progress towards maximizing the potential business from existing clients and new prospects within the assigned market area.
- Maintains a regular sales call program with clients to ensure effective management, retention, and expansion of each relationship.
- Establishes solid relationships with Hotel Franchisors, Franchisees and key business referral sources (COIs).
- Identifies, researches and calls on prospects to establish and nurture a strong relationship with the goal of winning their business and becoming their trusted advisor.
- Maintains current thorough knowledge of Roynat Capital’s specialized product offerings (Term, Subordinated Debt, Equity) to promote tailored presentation packages.
- Maintains knowledge of client businesses and industries to identify holistic financial solutions.
- Maintains solid knowledge of competitors and other threats in the marketplace to adjust plans proactively.
- Identifies opportunities to refer clients/prospects to Scotiabank partners and/or participate in joint calls.
- Manages and controls assigned loan portfolio to ensure acceptable risk and appropriate return.
- Researches, prepares and verifies comprehensive credit applications aligned with documented guidelines.
- Exercises sound credit judgment on complex deals based on thorough due diligence and analysis.
- Monitors assigned accounts to ensure adherence to terms and conditions, including timely financial statement reviews.
- Develops a strong working relationship with Risk Management partner(s) and establishes communication for credit presentations.
- Maintains client relationships and ensures timely administration of accounts, keeping a comprehensive database of activities.
- Contributes to reporting on credits/accounts as required by Risk Management, Compliance, Executive Office or other areas of Scotiabank.
- Maintains expert knowledge of Roynat products, services, processes, and procedures.
- Maintains strong knowledge of other Scotiabank products and services for cross-sell/referral opportunities.
- Continuously increases credit writing skills, deal structuring skills, and sales excellence behaviors, consistently emulating these behaviors within the D.O.
- Monitors performance and ascertains training requirements to enhance staff development and assists in recruitment.
- Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective operations while ensuring adherence to business controls to meet operational risk, regulatory compliance, AML/ATF, and conduct risk obligations.
- Champions a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates the team, fostering an inclusive work environment; communicates vision, values, and business strategy, and manages succession and development planning for the team.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?
- University degree (undergraduate or graduate) focused on Economics, Commerce, Finance, and/or Accounting.
- Professional financial designation such as CPA, CMA, CFA strongly preferred.
- 6+ years of related commercial credit or analysis and business development experience in a financial services environment.
- Proven track record for sales/closing skills.
- Established networking and relationship-building skills with proven ability to work cross-functionally with other partners.
- Expert negotiation, risk assessment, and analysis skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrating approachability and building trust.
- Superior deal structuring skills.
- Exceptional presentation skills and ability to think/respond quickly and adapt to change.
- Solid awareness and understanding of differences in tax, legal, and accounting rules across jurisdictions Roynat operates within.
