What is the opportunity?

This role will manage the daily operational needs of the Entitlements Tax Team, this includes people and process management, and will actively participate in identifying and implementing continuous process improvement efficiencies and operational excellence along with risk mitigation programs

This role will have oversight of all tax related matters as it relates to Corporate Action and Income events and work closely with Fund Accounting teams to ensure they are also fully supported, establish the framework to initiate a workflow between Custody and FA.

What will you do?
  • Oversight of the team’s organization of upcoming corporate action events and their review of appropriate documentation to provide Canadian tax direction on corporate action events accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Liaise with Tax Advisory Group for guidance on potential complex events and issues, and document patterns and similarities of Corporate Action events reviewed by Tax Advisory Support.
  • Ensure the team is providing clear detailed tax direction posting instructions, including transaction codes and/or tax categories, relative fair market values, and specific values as it pertains to Canadian or U.S. Income to satisfy reporting and withholding tax requirements.
  • Recognize tax implications and narrative to assist CA Research Team with standard tax clauses.
  • Stay up to date on tax regulation changes, and review how these changes will impact corporate action processing, income and tax reporting.
  • Manage escalations and high-risk transactions to mitigate risk exposure.
  • Manage support for complex security profiles to ensure Canadian and U.S. tax implications are accounted for along with an accurate flow through of complex income payments for such specialized assets.
  • Oversight to ensure queries from internal Tax Reporting Teams – both Canadian and U.S.
What do you need to succeed?

Must haves:

  • Excellent knowledge of tax laws / regulations affecting corporate actions, both domestic and foreign; and Canadian Tax Reporting
  • 5+ years Securities Industry experience.
  • Excellent understanding of corporate action principals.
  • Demonstrated leadership, supervisory and people management abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure, managing workloads and time efficiently to meet stringent deadlines in a stressful environment

Pay Range

The expected pay range for this position is:

$80,000.00 - $140,000.00
