As Associate Director, Development, you will create and lead a multi-year portfolio of donors that will enable annual investments of between $3-5 million to support the mission of the Temerty Faculty of Medicine. You will inspire donors to invest at the highest levels and support the elevation of fundraising strategies across the Development team. Using your strong communication, relationship building and strategic insight, you will work with volunteers to enable donor referral, while ensuring alignment with Faculty priorities.

Responsibilities

• Assessing needs and contributing to the development and implementation of plans for prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and recognition
• Developing tailored fundraising initiatives that support strategic initiatives and analyzing the impact of stewardship programming on fundraising initiatives
• Evaluating a prospective donor’s giving capacity and readiness to give; developing and implementing donor engagement plans that support strategic objectives
• Drafting donor acknowledgment and recognition communications, donor gift agreements, briefing notes, solicitation plans and project specific proposals related to fundraising campaigns
• Delivering presentations to promote programs, opportunities and/or initiatives and drafting presentation materials
• Maintaining detailed records of donor interactions to support prospect pipeline development including producing complex donor reports and formatting data collected for presentations
• Directing the activities of Development team members and the work of volunteers on appropriate donor solicitation strategies

Essential Qualifications

• University Degree, or the equivalent combination of education and fundraising experience.
• A minimum of six (6) years’ experience in advancement and/or account management
• Proven track record of closing six figure gifts and ability to develop a multi-year portfolio that will support an annual goal of between $3-5 million
• Experience fundraising in a healthcare and academic environment
• Proven ability to build trust with volunteers and inspire high level donor referrals.
• Demonstrated experience successfully leading complex donor and volunteer engagement and solicitation strategies
• Demonstrated experience operating effectively in complex multi-stakeholder environments such as education and healthcare, working with researchers and clinicians
• Proven track record of developing impactful and mission aligned gift opportunities and creating strong proposals, stewardship reports and other related written development documents
• Demonstrated experience developing concise and impactful briefing materials and proven track record of successfully orchestrating complex multi-stakeholder meetings
• Proven track record of interpreting and applying policies and procedures to make independent and sound decisions
• Experience in project management, including successful initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, controlling and closure of a project
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; strong knowledge and experience with donor databases
• Proven track record of communicating complex ideas or concepts in an accessible and direct manner to enable clarity and inspire cooperation
• Exceptional ability to communicate with precision and impact across a multitude of situations, including developing concise and clear business communications including emails, letters and briefings, drafting impactful proposals, delivering presentations and the ability to navigate difficult negotiations with ease
• Strong team player who values collaboration and excellent interpersonal skills.
• Proven leadership, with the ability to motivate colleagues and manage volunteers and staff.
• Evidence of tact, political acuity, diplomacy and initiative, careful attention to detail and creativity
• Strong project management skills, ability to multi-task successfully in a fast-paced and results oriented environment.
