  • Work collaboratively with business teams early in the transaction lifecycle to identify key credit risks and recommend appropriate deal structures.
  • Review and adjudicate Credit Requests within agreed timelines, assign risk ratings, and elevate exceptions as needed.
  • Conduct ongoing risk assessments incorporating monitoring of performance, industry trends, regulatory changes, and early warning signals.
  • Review complex financial models, perform scenario analysis, and prepare peer group comparisons to support risk rating recommendations.

Join RBC as an Associate Director, Credit Risk specializing in data centers and real estate lending. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic and fast paced environment that values the ability to manage competing priorities, build strong rapport with business partners and provide risk decisioning that balances client credit needs with RBC’s risk objectives.

Job Description
What will you do?
  • Conduct comprehensive credit assessments of data center and real estate borrowers including construction / project finance and corporate lending structures.
  • Analyze transactions, evaluating construction risk, operational risk, sponsor strength, and cash flow adequacy.
  • Work collaboratively with business teams early in the transaction lifecycle to identify key credit risks and recommend appropriate deal structures and mitigation strategies.
  • Review and adjudicate Credit Requests within agreed timelines, assign appropriate Risk Ratings, and elevate exceptions to applicable policies and guidelines.
  • Conduct timely risk assessments incorporating continuous monitoring of financial performance, industry trends, regulatory changes, and early warning signals.
  • Review complex financial models, conduct scenario analysis, and prepare peer group comparisons to support risk rating recommendations.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-Haves
  • 3 – 6 years of experience working in a financial institution or rating agency, preferably with some project finance or real estate experience
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial statements and demonstrated experience in financial analysis
  • Advanced communication skills, including a proven ability to articulate recommendations to influence decision making
  • Significant experience with Excel, including using Excel as a tool for financial analysis and the ability to navigate a financial model
  • Analytical and curious mindset with the ability to identify key details while filtering out extraneous information
  • Ability to deal with obstacles and ambiguity in an environment that can involve competing priorities and tight timelines
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively to develop effective solutions/recommendations
Nice-to-Haves
  • Completed, or in process of completing, an MBA and/or post graduate degree, CPA and/or CFA
  • Experience with online research tools (Bloomberg, SNL, Capital IQ, S&P/Moody's/Fitch ratings)
  • Interest in pursuing a career in Risk Management
