Global Public Affairs is seeking an Associate Consultant for our Toronto office in the Health & Life Sciences practice. It is a full-time role offering collaboration with Global colleagues across the country.

The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of public affairs experience, strong verbal and written communication skills, and be entrepreneurial and detail-oriented. Reporting to the Vice President, you will support client service, draft materials, and coordinate government meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Provides significant support in the execution of client service within the Health & Life Sciences team
  • Represents the company and/or clients as appropriate at events
  • Supports drafting of written materials, including briefings, submissions, reports and proposals
  • Coordinate and schedule meetings for clients with government and prepare briefing notes in advance
  • Support event execution, including lobby days and client events
  • Prepares agendas and meeting notes for client calls and meetings
  • Monitors government issues for clients and seeks timely answers on client inquiries
  • Supports the strategic direction of the Health & Life Sciences practice and aid in its growth path
  • Monitor government proceedings including Question Period and Committees and prepare written summaries for clients
  • Seeks guidance and support as needed; mitigates issues prior to their escalation

Global Public Affairs (Global), Canada’s fastest-growing public affairs firm, is looking for a talented, early-career professional to join our Toronto office as an Associate Consultant. This full-time position, part of our growing Health & Life Sciences practice group, offers a positive work environment and the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across the country.

The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial, well-organized, proactive, possess strong verbal and written communication skills, and is expected to have at least 1 year of experience working in public affairs, advocacy or stakeholder relations. Experience working in or adjacent to the health sector would be an asset.

Our team is fortunate to work with a variety of clients, from multinational biopharmaceutical companies to local innovators to non-profit advocacy organizations. We are looking for someone to support this work who is ambitious, outgoing, detail-oriented, organized when dealing with multiple, complex projects, and enjoys working in a fast-paced team atmosphere.

Reporting to the Vice President, this position offers a positive work environment and the opportunity to support a growing business and collaborate with Global colleagues in offices across the country.

The pay range for this position is $60,000 – $75,000 annually. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate's experience and qualifications. We anticipate that the starting salary will be at the entry level of the band with room for growth as the candidate develops in the role.

Skills and Qualifications
  • A post-secondary degree in political science, public administration, or a related discipline or relevant experience
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in a public affairs environment, with health sector experience an asset
  • Ability to work at the detailed, tactical level while understanding the bigger strategic picture
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to work across multiple platforms
  • Motivated self-starter who is curious and willing to learn
  • Knowledge of the roles and functions of all three levels of government
  • Ability to register under the Ontario Lobbying Act, with no restrictions, is required
  • Ability to multi-task and be results oriented, sometimes under time pressures
  • Strong inter-personal skills with a client-service focus
  • Excellent time-management skills, ability to organize workflow and accountable to deadlines
  • Ability to work within a team environment
