Job description

Ready to launch your career in consulting? If you're passionate about shaping policy, and supporting clients with their policy objectives, this is the perfect starting point for you. Our team is looking for a high energy candidate to skillfully master the basics of government relations consulting and then explore the many avenues for growth within Global Public Affairs. If you are a self-motivated individual who can balance competing demands, and thrives in a team-setting, this is a great role for you.

Global Public Affairs (Global) is looking for a talented, early career professional to join our team as an Associate Consultant. This full-time position, based in Calgary, offers a positive work environment and the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across the country.

The Associate Consultant role is an entry-level consulting position for candidates with 0-2 years of experience. The position is based in either the Calgary or Edmonton office, depending on the candidate’s preference.

The ideal candidate will be well-organized, proactive, strategic thinker, possess strong verbal and written communication skills and is looking to further develop and expand upon their skill set. Previous experience in the field of government, public policy, or communications is considered an asset but not required.

We are looking for someone who can work independently within a broader team structure. Client servicing makes up the bulk of the daily workload which includes monitoring policy and legislative issues, drafting various documents such as briefing notes and presentations, and ensuring client expectations are understood and met. This requires significant organization skills when dealing with multiple projects, within a fast-paced team atmosphere. And while this role has specific tasks, Global is looking for a team member who is excited to learn from colleagues and clients, proactively contribute, and think outside the box to support advocacy objectives of clients.

Working primarily with the Western Canada team, this position offers a positive work environment and the opportunity to collaborate with a well-connected network of colleagues across the country. This position can be based in either the Calgary or Edmonton office.

Global is an equal opportunity employer. All applicants will be considered for employment without attention to race, colour, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran, or disability status.

Global values inclusion and access for all participants and are pleased to provide reasonable accommodations. If you require accommodations, please contact Stephanie Elyea selyea@globalpublic.com or 613-866-2925 to make a reasonable accommodation request.

The pay range for this position is $60,000-$80,000 annually. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate’s experience and qualifications. We anticipate that the starting salary will be at the entry level of the band with room for growth as the candidate develops in the role.
